Chimp tracking in Kibale is moderate in difficulty. It typically involves 2–4 hours of walking through forest trails. Most visitors with average fitness can complete the trek without issues.
The best months are during the dry seasons — June to September and December to February — when trails are less muddy and sightings are more predictable.
Once a chimpanzee group is found, you’ll spend one hour observing them from a safe distance of at least 8 meters, as regulated by Uganda Wildlife Authority.
